The U.S Massachusetts State Curriculum
The Massachusetts State Curriculum is the most highly regarded study program in
the United States. With close ties to prestigious universities such as Harvard and MIT, it stands above other curricula for its rigorous, comprehensive and
forward-thinking design.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten Program (KG1 and KG2) is for learners that are between the ages of 4-6 years old. At Ocean American School, these years are all about learning through play and exploration.With activities filled to excite all of the senses, our learners will develop skills that will help foster independence, numeracy and literacy foundation, collaboration and cooperation, as well as set the foundation for the next stage: Elementary School.
Elementary and Middle School
The Elementary (Grades 1-5) and Middle School Programs (Grades 6-8) follow the Massachusetts State Common Core curriculum. Students at this phase of learning will add to their foundation by using inquiry based learning, language workshops, STEM exploration, and Visual and Performing Arts opportunities. Ocean American School will use a Mindfulness approach to integrate Mindfulness that weaves the threads of: Being Mindful, Teaching Mindfully, and Teaching Mindfulness as prepare our students for the next stage. The curriculum also places importance on social and emotional development alongside academic excellence.
High School
The High School Program (Grades 9-12) is the culminating program designed to extend students’ academic skills, promote individual development, and encourage attitudes of social responsibility through a variety of learning experiences. These years will extend the foundation set during the Elementary and Middle years through the continued use of the Massachusetts State Common Core, as well as AP (Advance Placement by College Board) courses.
